Country Home Ideas – Sean Peoples and Jacky Connolly
“Never make your home in a place. Make a home for yourself inside your own head. You’ll find what you need to furnish it – memory, friends you can trust, love of learning, and other such things. That way it will go with you wherever you journey.” – Tad Williams
“And when the day arrives I’ll become the sky and I’ll become the sea and the sea will come to kiss me for I am going home. Nothing can stop me now.” – Trent Reznor
“Home is where you feel at home and are treated well.” – Dalai Lama
In Country Home Ideas, Jacky Connolly and Sean Peoples present a series of architectonic informed sculptural and video work which explore the notion of the home – where the flux between the concrete worlds of architecture, interiors and decor bleed into the psychological worlds of feeling, memories and dreams. Home is a mind, a body, a house, a nation. The foundations of these homes can become unstable – a sanctuary can just as easily become a prison. Human experience presents itself as a composite of internal and external realities, where the architecture of the home and the ways in which we decorate and fashion it both reflect and inform reality.
